This mixed-age preschool program will enroll children who are between 2 years 9 months through 4 years 9 months when they enter school in late August. The decade long success of our mixed age afterschool program and the opportunities afforded by remodeling our historic laboratory school allow us more flexibility to match children to programs that best suit their developmental learning styles. This new program will provide an additional way to create optimal learning environments to match each child’s unique and unfolding developmental patterns of growth.

Our new mixed age preschool program will offer our integrated curriculum in a smaller classroom setting, with flexible sensory-based furnishings to suit a range of individualized learning styles. The classroom is designed to enroll nine children with two full time teachers and a part-time assistant teacher. This small group, mixed age program is ideal for preschoolers who may develop optimally through small-group peer interactions, with extended language opportunities, and/or an individualized sensory learning environment. As with all classrooms at Wimpfheimer, this mixed age preschool program will welcome and incorporate support services, creating a truly inclusive learning environment.
